A French car company Peugeot has renewed its logo. A press-release says that the restyling was undertaken to commemorate sesquicentennial anniversary of the iconic image of the lion on Peugeot logo. The new logo is accompanied by the new motto – Motion & Emotion.

The lion on the previous logo was a symbol of the reliability, flexibility and speed. The image throws back to the coat of arms of the County of Franche-Comte (Burgundy) – the motherland of the company’s founders. «During all the years of its existence our logo has changed several times but it has always preserved its sophisticated and delicate image and recognizability», - representatives of the company say.

The new logo was developed by a French agency BETC Design. Though the new logo preserves the continuance with the previous one now it has gained a more modern look In addition to the voluminosity and gloss it has acquired a simpler silhouette. New font is closer to the font used by Citroen – one more brand in PSA Peugeot Citroen group. The new logo will be seen on Peugeot cars in May 2010
